From seeing her programs to listening to her albums and viewing her films, we’ve had the privilege of watching Hilary Duff grow up. Her crowning role in “Lizzie McGuire” had preteens and adolescents hooked to her work. When the show ended, she chose to pursue the world of music, conquering that field by selling 15 million albums worldwide. Then, she designed her own clothing line, released her own perfume, and co-wrote novels — showing us she can do anything she sets her mind to. When she married Canadian hockey player Mike Comrie in Santa Barbara at the former home of Michael Douglas, she dominated that, too, by wearing a custom Vera Wang dress.
When Duff came to Wang for her dress, she requested something destructed. Duff wanted the opposite of prim and proper. The designer drew up a look that perfectly described that: a silk tulle and organza mermaid gown in blush pink. The skirt really pulled the gown together, with its choppy floral swirls and romantic fullness. Wang, after working directly with Hilary on the construction, said it was perfect for her figure. “A mermaid shape clearly articulates the curves of the body. Ideal for an afternoon or an evening wedding, it also suits many body types: elongating on small women and extremely flattering on full body shapes.” Wang was so inspired by this look that she created something similar for her own collection, called Gemma.
