Robert 'Vanilla Ice' Van Winkle Charged with Robbery

Robert ‘Vanilla Ice’ Van Winkle is charged in connection with the robbery of a foreclosed home in Lantana, Florida.

Vanilla Ice is under arrest Wednesday; charged with burglary in Lantana, Florida.

The one-time rap star, whose actual name is Robert Van Winkle, was arrested Wednesday and hit with a burglary charge for the theft of property from a vacant residence, according to the Lantana Police Department.




Lantana Police said the theft of a pool heater and some furniture happened sometime between December and February in a foreclosed home in Lantana.

“During the investigation, it was determined Robert Matthew Van Winkle played a role in the burglary and theft. Mr. Van Winkle is currently renovating the residence adjacent to the property in which the items were stolen. A search warrant was obtained and executed in unincorporated Palm Beach County in which several of the stolen items were recovered at a residence under the care and control of Robert Van Winkle,” the Lantana Police stated.

The stolen property has “since been returned to its rightful owner.”

Vanilla Ice has his own home renovation show called The Vanilla Ice Project on the DIY Network. After renovating the homes, the celebrity then sells them at a profit.

DIY issued the following: “DIY Network has been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter.”
